本研究主要以地理学、生态学、景观生态学、区位论和系统论为主要理论支持，通过对科尔沁地区20世纪70年代的mss遥感影像、 20世纪80年代和90年代末tm遥感影像进行基于背景数据库和专家知识的解译，获得科尔沁研究区土地沙漠化的三期矢量数据，利用arc / info软件强大的空间分析功能对属性进行处理，并在arcview 、 erdasimagine软件的支持下进行信息提取与分析，研究了科尔沁沙地土地沙漠化时空变化的规律，提出了科尔沁沙地土地沙漠化防治的构想与对策。
